Have you ever felt as if you’ve picked up a few extra pounds right after a meal? That’s called belly bloating. It is a fairly common occurrence but also quite an unpleasant and uncomfortable one.
Here are 6 simple tricks to stop belly bloating:
1. Slow down your eating pace
Sometimes, you just want to get it over with. It could be a delicious and finger-licking meal, or you just feel like you could eat a horse. Whatever the case, do not eat in a hurry. You tend to swallow a lot of ‘gas-producing-air’ when you chew your food quickly. In fact, you also tend NOT to chew food as much as you should. Therefore, large pieces of food will sit uncomfortably in your gut.
When you slow down on chewing, you will increase the amount of saliva and enzymes that are mixed up with the food to kick-start digestion. Most people forget this, but digestion begins in the mouth. If you have been chewing your food too fast, you have likely experienced a lot of belly bloating.
2. Cut down on the “sugar-free” products
Foods that contain artificial sweeteners like sorbitol and aspartame can cause belly bloating. Cut back on candies and drinks that are “sugar-free,” They contain these artificial sweeteners and additives that cannot be digested. That goes for fructose as well. It is a fairly common additive but also one in which many people struggle to digest.
Even “sugar-free” chewing gums also contain artificial sweeteners to make up for the supposed lack of sugar. They may not be good for you merely on account of the “sugar-free” label.
3. Get regular exercise
Specific exercise can help relieve the effects of belly bloating. Be sure to begin a regular exercise regimen because a lack of regular physical activity can cause constipation and abdominal bloating.
4. Watch out for the raw vegetables
Cooked veggies are great to add to most of your meals. On the other hand, raw vegetables can be difficult for your body to digest. Despite the many natural enzymes contained in them, our digestive systems are too weak to digest raw vegetables. Therefore, steaming or cooking your vegetables can help reduce belly bloating.
5. Don’t panic
Stress hormones can also affect your digestive system. When you are stressed, everything speeds up in your body, and you may experience gas and even diarrhea. Therefore, stress can pile up a great deal of pressure on your stomach and abdomen. Try to get up whenever you are anxious and move around. The bubbles in your tummy will also move out as you relax your nerves.
Neurotransmitter imbalances that result from stress may create an environment where food is not properly digested. This will inevitably lead to gas and belly bloating.
6. Get checked
Chronic belly bloating can be a result of intolerance or failure of absorption. It is critical that you get tested if you have reoccurring symptoms of belly bloating. You may have to get a better understanding of what is going on inside your tummy and then get proper medical advice.
