4 Effective Time Management Lessons From Bhagvad Gita

A number of things actually come under your own control when you hit puberty. That means you have that power or authority to make decisions and control events in your lives. You get to control your time and how you spend it or waste it, depending on the situation. This is the time for some time management lessons.

Whether you realize this or not, this is the time you become your own manager. Whether you are managing your employees or your kids, a huge organization or your teammates, there are some proven techniques or methods which are somewhat universal.

Bhagavad Gita is an ancient and famous book in Hindu religion which was written in 3000 BC. This book says that humans are aggravated towards any goal by four different motivators. Or in simple terms you can say that, people are provoked to do anything because of 4 different things.

Now it actually depends on an individual. Whichever one is going to work is the one you need to choose accordingly, and sometimes you have to apply or use more than one technique. Perhaps you work with a variety of individuals around you at home or in your office. As you read this, think of all the things that you truly know about your staff. The four main principles of management are: Equality, punishment, price and division.

1. Equality

With this principle, you make yourself equal to the subordinate. You ask for her/his opinions and you also work next to that person. He can be that kind of a person who does not take orders, but maybe he responds well to the suggestion when he/she knows that his/her opinion matters. Though you actually can, but you do not spell out the terms to him as a greater or superior. This usually works in case you’ve somebody who thinks independently and also open and friendly to speak to. Therefore, he can contribute more if you treat him with respect. All you need to do is be his buddy and he will definitely pour out his talent for you.

2. Punishment

Obviously, everybody has an innate fear of penalty or consequences. In reality, and because of this fear, many people do extremely well in their work. Everyone is usually keen to avoid penalties or punishments, however little or insignificant they may be.

3. Cost

It is another style of management. It’s a simple translation for “Price” or fee. You pay the person whatever they ask to complete the job. This doesn’t need to be money. It can be some additional time to rest or overdue holiday approval, etc. For kids, this can be their favorite teddy bear once they finish the task given to them, by you.

4. Division

It is an ancient trick practiced by the rulers of that time, which happens to be quite effective. Self-sufficient type of people do their best work when they are left alone. They are very intelligent individuals who know exactly how to perform their job. However, such people cannot perform well under any type of pressure. Help these people and obtain the best from them.
